A: It’s celebrated globally on 13 November each year, reminding us how even the smallest acts of kindness can brighten someone’s world.
Wondering how to celebrate World Kindness Day in Sydney this year? On 13 November 2025, the world will pause – if only for a moment – to recognise the quiet magic of kindness. Not the big, headline-making gestures, but the small, everyday acts that ripple outward and remind us we’re all connected.
At Little Flowers, we see those moments every day. A “just because” bunch sent to a tired friend. A note to a colleague who’s had a rough week. A bunch of Sunflowers to brighten a neighbour’s morning. When we started Little Flowers more than a decade ago, part of our mission was to make flower giving easier and more accessible – so people could share these small acts of kindness freely, without needing a big occasion (or a big price tag) to justify it.
Because sometimes kindness isn’t planned. It’s spontaneous. And that’s what makes it powerful.
There’s a reason giving flowers feels so good. Research shows that small acts of kindness trigger a release of serotonin and oxytocin – the brain’s natural mood boosters. And flowers, in particular, have a unique ability to light up both sides of that exchange.
For the giver, they’re a moment of intention: a pause in the rush of the day to say, “I thought of you.” For the receiver, they’re a burst of unexpected colour, a reminder that someone cares. Psychologists call it “emotional contagion” – we just call it connection.
Q: How can I celebrate World Kindness Day in Sydney?
A: One of the easiest ways is through flowers. A simple bunch sent to a friend, neighbour or colleague can instantly lift spirits and spread joy.
You don’t need a reason to be kind. That’s what we love most about flowers- they make everyday kindness easy. A bunch of blooms can turn an ordinary Thursday into something really special.
Think about the people who might need a smile today: a friend, a teacher, your favourite barista, or even yourself. A simple Daily Mixed Bouquet can be enough to change the mood of an entire day, possibly even an entire week..
And when the gesture is unexpected, it has even more impact.
Over the years, we’ve had plenty of those moments ourselves. We’ve handed random bunches to people at zebra crossings in Bondi and Centennial Park. We’ve dropped a few extra flowers in Moore Park and Bronte on our way home from the studio. From the very early days – before we moved to Marrickville – our little delivery team often found small ways to brighten Sydney’s streets, from Waterloo to Manly.
One of our favourites was leaving bunches in bike baskets at the Rose Bay ferry wharf, so cyclists found a surprise waiting after their morning commute.
Then there was the red-car moment in the Sydney CBD. We spotted a fresh parking ticket, tucked a little bunch under the wiper with a note that said, “Sorry about the fine, hope this softens the blow.” The owner ran over, worried we were adding another ticket, then saw the flowers and laughed with relief. It turned a bad day into a better one.

We even tucked a tiny bunch between the travel guides at the Double Bay Library during HSC study week, a small cheer-up for tired students revising late.

And back in the earliest Little Flowers van days, we’d often finish deliveries and hand a few spare bunches to whoever crossed our path – a small tradition that still shapes how we think about giving.
If you’d like to join in this World Kindness Day, here are a few simple ways to share a little flower-powered joy across Sydney:
– Send an anonymous bouquet to someone you admire.
– Gift a bunch to a local community hero – a nurse, volunteer, or bus driver.
– Surprise your office or classroom with a Seasonal Flowers delivery.
– Start a kindness chain: ask your recipient to pass the gesture on.
– Don’t forget self-kindness. Flowers for yourself count too.
During lockdown, when we had to keep our distance, we found creative ways to share flowers safely. A quick toss through a car window at the lights, a doorstep drop and wave. People sometimes posted the surprise on Instagram, and those little messages back to us were a joy of their own.

Q: What flowers are best for kindness gifts?
A: Choose something bright and heartfelt. Sunflowers, Peonies, Paper Daisies or our Daily Mixed Bouquet are all perfect for sending warmth and cheer.
Not sure where to start? Every flower has a personality, and some seem to radiate kindness more than others.
If you can, choose bright, seasonal blooms – they’re fresher, more sustainable, and carry that beautiful sense of now.
Q: Where can I order flowers for World Kindness Day in Sydney?
A: Right here at Little Flowers. Our Seasonal Flowers and Daily Mixed Bouquet are delivered fresh across Sydney every day, ready to make someone’s day brighter.
In past years, we’ve celebrated World Kindness Day in Sydney in all sorts of ways. Last year, our team handed out armfuls of sunflowers in Sydney CBD and Newtown – two stems to each person. The only rule? Keep one, and give one away to a stranger.

In Newtown, we set up with a bucket of Sunflowers and a simple sign that read, “Spread a little love this Kindness Day.” People took one, then passed one on. In the CBD, our bike courier handed them out safely in the crowd – quick chats, big smiles, and a few happy tears.

Two stems each, one to keep and one to give away
We also donate spare flowers when we can. One of our favourite moments was sending a bright bucket to OzHarvest. The photo that came back made our whole team smile, and the text that followed was basically us buzzing about doing something small and good together.

And one of our most meaningful gestures? Donating vases to The Wayside Chapel in Potts Point for their volunteer lunch. The volunteers there are some of the kindest people in Sydney, and we wanted to give them something that felt just as heartfelt in return.
As for 2025? We’re still dreaming up something special. Follow us on Instagram to see what blooms on the day.
Kindness doesn’t have to be grand to matter. One small act can create ripples you’ll never see. A bunch of flowers might last a week, but the feeling it sparks can linger much longer.
Here at Little Flowers, we’ve seen how one small bunch can brighten a day, soften a difficult moment, and reconnect two people who haven’t spoken in years. That’s what keeps us doing what we do.
So this World Kindness Day, whether you’re in Potts Point or Parramatta, Bondi or Sydney CBD, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating the quiet power of kindness.
Because when kindness takes root, it really can bloom everywhere.
