There’s a strange assumption that flowers are only for women. Maybe it’s the rom-coms, maybe it’s the greeting card aisle, or just years of habit – but for some reason, sending flowers to a man has never quite been the norm.

And honestly? That’s exactly what makes it so good. When a bunch shows up for someone who wasn’t expecting it – especially someone who’s not used to being on the receiving end – it creates a moment that’s really memorable. Quiet. Personal. A little surprising. And all the more meaningful because of it.

At Little Flowers, we’re all about that kind of magic. The small gestures that challenge expectations, rewrite the rules, and remind someone (in the loveliest way) that they matter.

And, one thing we know after more than a decade of delivering? Men love getting flowers. Maybe not all of them will admit it. But we’ve seen it – on doorsteps, in offices, even on building sites. A well-timed bouquet does something wonderful to even the most stoic face. And yes, we’ve got stories.

Sending flowers to a man isn’t just okay. It’s excellent. Here’s why.

Men Like Nice Things Too

Despite what society might’ve told us, enjoying beauty isn’t gendered. And let’s face it – flowers are beautiful. They’re vibrant and fresh and alive. They carry thoughtfulness in every stem.

We’ve had florists deliver blooms to mechanics, baristas, teachers, dads, best mates and even the occasional gruff bricklayer. And the reaction? Always good. Sometimes a bit sheepish. Occasionally emotional. Often – delightfully surprised.

One of our favourite stories? A man who received flowers from his partner, with a card that said “I love you.” It was the first time anyone had ever said that to him. He cried. The courier cried. We all cried a bit just hearing about it.

Flowers We Often See Sent to Men

If you’re thinking of sending blooms but aren’t sure what style will land well, don’t worry – we’ve got this covered.

Sunflowers
Big, bright, cheerful and unpretentious. These are one of the most popular bunches we see sent to men – especially for cheering up a friend or marking a tough week with a little joy. They’re also one of the most sent flowers to men by other men. Go figure!

SEND SUNFLOWERS

Our Daily Mixed Bouquet
This is the bunch we design fresh every market day, using whatever looks best from the Sydney Flower Market. It changes all the time, and always looks beautiful. Because there’s only one option each day, it removes decision fatigue. Just choose a size, and we’ll do the rest.

Native and Seasonal Bunches
When natives are in season – think King Proteas, Flannel Flower, Paper Daisies or Grevillea – we often see a spike in men receiving flowers. These bunches feel sculptural and striking. Paired with our simple wrapping, they’ve got a modern, minimalist vibe that suits a broad range of recipients.

When to Send Flowers to a Guy

You don’t need a grand excuse or a major milestone. Some of the best deliveries we’ve seen are for the smallest, most heartfelt reasons. Like a daughter wanting to say, “Thanks for everything, Dad.” Or a partner who knows their person needs a pick-me-up – even if they won’t admit it.

It might be a simple “I miss you” between mates. Or a guy asking his best friend to be best man – with a little flair. Sometimes it’s just about having a laugh, like sending flowers to embarrass a mate at work (with love, of course).

And the tags that come with them? Some of our favourites:

“Because even Mr Tough Guy needs flowers.”
“To embarrass you at work ;p Love you!”
“Because I know you love flowers as much as I do x”
“Just in case no one’s told you: You’re doing great.”
“Because you’re the kind of man who gets flowers.”

Big or small, serious or cheeky – these gestures go a long way. They make someone’s day in a way not much else can.

It doesn’t need to be fancy. It just needs to come from you.

Why It Works (Even When They Pretend It Doesn’t)

We’ve had couriers deliver to all sorts of people in all sorts of places – but you want to know where one of the biggest reactions happened? A construction site.

It was Easter. One of our delivery crew was dressed in a giant bunny suit (long story). He rocked up with a bunch of flowers for one of the tradies. The guy went bright red, the crew burst out laughing – but it was joyful. The laughter was shared. It brought the whole site together for a moment.

That’s the magic of a flower delivery. It interrupts the routine. It softens the edges. It makes people smile.

And for a lot of men? It might be one of the only moments they hear – without a joke, a jab, or a side of banter – that they matter. That they’re seen, appreciated, and loved.

Because sometimes, even the most stoic or self-sufficient guys need reminding. Not in a grand, dramatic way – but in a small, surprising moment that catches them off guard and stays with them. A bunch of flowers handed over at the front door, a message scribbled on a tag that just says, “You’re doing great.” That stuff lands.

It’s connection, without fanfare. And we think that’s kind of beautiful.

Sending Flowers to Men Is More Normal Than You Think

At Little Flowers, we’ve been watching this shift for a while. More people are sending flowers just because. More people are sending flowers to their dads, their brothers, their friends and their workmates. And more men are loving it.

We think that’s something to celebrate. Because generosity should feel good for everyone – no matter who’s receiving it.

Ready to Send Something?

If there’s a guy in your life who could use a lift, some encouragement, or just a smile – flowers are a great place to start. Not over-the-top. Not trying too hard. Just a bunch of something beautiful, wrapped with care and sent from the heart. The kind of gesture that lands quietly… and lingers.
